The 2013 Kent Student Art Walk is coming up this March. We hope to have art from some of Millennium's students showcased there. If your child's class doesn't have an art docent, please consider volunteering. We are already about half-way through the school year and this is usually only a one day/per month commitment.

Here's a little example: Today, was my scheduled art docent day for my daughter's class. I have about an hour for a quick lesson with an art project or craft activity. The kids all really seem to love being able to use their creativity. Personally, I like doing something themed around a holiday, event, or season of year that is coming up. So, today I talked about "still life" art and titled my lesson "Still Love" since it was all Valentine-type stuff that I put on display. There really are no rules, though - it's art! All it takes is a little time and some enthusiasm. There are even designated supplies that the art docents can use. Yep, I love arts and crafts. I even attempted to "draw along" the students today as you can see from my pic. Try not to laugh at my sketch...ok, you can laugh, but please don't do it to my face. The kids told me it looked good.It feels great to see the students excited each time I come to their classroom. Get inspired...maybe inspire someone else! Just think about all the fun you can have with it. After all, when was the last time you sat down to sketch, draw, or paint - just for fun?!?
